Marnus Labuschagne Omitted from Australian One-Day International Lineup to Face Team India

Labuschagne finds himself omitted from the three-match ODI series facing India, with high-performing Queensland colleague Matt Renshaw earning a surprise selection.

Performance Issues Result in Omission

The right-hander was left out from the ODI side following being dismissed for one in his two batting efforts during the recent series against South Africa in August. The right-hander has a top score of 47 in his most recent ten ODI innings.

Labuschagne has played 68 ODIs and accumulated 1,871 ODI runs at an batting average of 34.64, but will now continue to press his claims a return to the Test side in time for the Ashes beginning in Perth on November 21.

Surprise Inclusion and Other Squad Changes

There have been indications of a return to form with 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw made a century for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.

Renshaw could to make his white-ball international debut in the upcoming series against India after previously being selected in an ODI squad in 2022.

Renshaw has played 14 Tests with the most recent appearance in India in 2023 but is also seeking a red-ball recall as Australia seek a fix to their opening batting issues.

Pace Additions and Fitness Updates

Left-arm quick Mitchell Starc returns for the ODI series against India after being rested since excelling for Australia in the clean sweep of West Indies in July.

Big Bash star Mitch Owen could make his ODI debut after being concussed in the build-up to Australia’s previous 50-over series against South Africa.

Mitch Marsh will captain both the ODI and T20 teams after smashing a century in the last match against New Zealand to seal a series clean sweep last week.
