Significant Internet Outage Affects Many Sites and Apps

A large-scale internet disruption has disrupted many sites and apps worldwide, as users noting problems connecting to the web following issues at Amazon’s online infrastructure system.

The affected apps encompass Snapchat, Roblox, the messaging service Signal, and the language learning app Duolingo, along with multiple Amazon-managed operations such as its main retail platform and the Ring doorbell home security firm.

In the UK, Lloyds bank was affected along with its subsidiaries the bank Halifax and Bank of Scotland, with also reports of difficulties accessing the the tax authority online portal on Monday morning. Furthermore across the UK, several Ring customers turned to online platforms to report their security devices were not working.
